At Front Line Services, we take truck building seriously. Since this piece of lifesaving equipment will be in service for many years, building a long-term relationship with you is as important to us as building the truck itself. From research on the front side, to construction details, inspections and service after the sale, we strive to make the entire process easy for you.
Do Your Homework
What are your community needs and your equipment needs?
Getting to Know You
We start the process with a meeting at your department. We’ll listen to your needs and ask questions that help to determine the best truck for your department. After this meeting, we customize a set of truck specifications, detailing every aspect of the truck: chassis preference, warning lights, body construction, body material type, and more. We can also provide Budget Pricing to allow you to know what to expect.
Specifications and Bids
Most municipalities go out for bid for their new fire truck. The specification step and the published spec document during the bidding process are very important. Departments know the options they want but don’t always know how to specify bid details like warranties and manufacturer stability. Final pricing can vary by thousands of dollars if specifications you intended to have on your new truck are not included in the bid. After bids come in, it’s important to examine each bid to confirm that every detail you requested is included in the bid.Not only can we help you with this, we are committed to getting you exactly what you want and need… with no surprises.
Buying Process
A community can opt to use Cooperative Purchasing, an RFP, or a Sealed Bid. Learn more about Procurement and Financing.
Once Front Line Services sells a Rosenbauer, the fine detail work begins! With several good planning sessions, we streamline things to make it easier for you.
Pre-Construction Conference
We hold a pre-construction conference with members of your fire department to review every detail – from every light switch to every outlet. This conference can take place at your department or, if helpful, at the factory. At this meeting, we’ll finalize documenting your product expectations prior to construction preventing cost increases and potential delays for requested changes you would otherwise make after this meeting.
Factory Inspections
Depending on the complexity of your truck, an “In Process” or a “Final Inspection” trip to the factory may be specified by your fire department. As with any factory trip, our sales representative will be accompany you at the inspection. If your departments is on a limited budget or you’ve ordered a more basic truck, this trip can be forgone and a representative of Front Line Services will do the final inspection on your vehicle before it ships. If desired, a video conference can be scheduled with you while we complete the inspection.
Delivery of Your Truck
After the truck arrives at our facility, our service department will do a pre-delivery inspection to ensure it is ready for service. Additionally, if specified, we will do any special upfitting such as headsets, equipment installation, and graphics. Your sales rep will schedule a time to deliver the truck to your fire station. Upon delivery, you will finalize payment and sign delivery papers and we will perform a product familiarization on your new vehicle (or at an alternate date that fits your training schedule).
